Privacy Policy — Timeline for ChatGPT
Last updated:
Timeline for ChatGPT displays your conversation history as a calendar heatmap and date-based timeline.
Data we handle
The extension retrieves conversation metadata from ChatGPT: chat IDs, titles, creation and update dates, archive status, and project names. It does not retrieve full conversation message bodies.
Your ChatGPT account ID identifies your local cache. Your session token is temporarily used to authenticate requests to ChatGPT and is not saved in persistent storage.
Use and storage
Metadata is used only to display your timeline, calculate statistics, filter titles, and open conversations by date.
Conversation metadata, preferences, and sync progress are stored locally using chrome.storage.local. Temporary navigation state is stored in the ChatGPT tab’s session storage. The extension does not upload its cache through Chrome Sync.
Sharing
The extension communicates with ChatGPT over HTTPS. It does not send your conversation metadata or credentials to the developer or other third parties.
It does not include advertising or analytics tracking, sell user data, or use data for creditworthiness or lending purposes.
An optional support link opens Buy Me a Coffee, which has its own privacy policy. No conversation metadata is attached to that link.
Retention and deletion
Locally cached metadata remains until the extension’s stored data is cleared or the extension is uninstalled. Uninstalling removes the extension’s local storage without deleting your ChatGPT conversations.
Limited use
Timeline for ChatGPT complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the extension’s stated features.
Changes
This policy will be updated if the extension’s data handling changes.
